Dr. Salzer

Dr.
Salzer is the founder and director of Long Island Hyperbaric and Wound Care
Associates. In 1998, Dr. Salzer had the vision of creating a first class
center that would address a significant problem: the increasing numbers of
patients in the New York area that suffer from
painful and chronic non-healing wounds and ulcers. From a single hyperbaric
chamber in 1998, LIHBO now has four chambers and provides care for hundreds
of patients each month. The center continues to grow as do the success
stories of our patients. As the evidence of this success, Dr. Salzer was voted
one of the Best Doctors in New York by New York Magazine recently. He is
also one of a small group of physicians in the United States that is Board
Certified in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, a subspecialty of the
American Board of Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Salzer is proud to have Long
Island Hyperbaric and Wound Care Associates newly associated with the North
Shore Long Island Jewish Health Care System, one of the largest in the
country.
Dr. Salzer received his Bachelor of Arts degree
from Columbia University and went on to receive his M.D. degree from Tufts
University in Boston. He graduated as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, one of
the highest awards a medical school graduate can attain. He did his
internship and residency at Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, NY
and became Board Certified in General Surgery. Following this he was
inducted into the American College of Surgeons as a Fellow. He served as
Major in the Medical Service Corps with the National Guard. He entered
private practice in Bethpage, NY were he performed General and Vascular
Surgery for over 26 years. During this time, he was the Director of Surgery
at New Island Hospital (then Mid-Island) and chaired many executive and
board committees. He is a member of the New York State Society of General
Surgeons and the American Society of General Surgeons. |
