Dr. Ross joined LIHBO in
1998 after receiving his initial training in hyperbaric medicine in San
Antonio, Texas along with the rest of the LIHBO staff. His interest arose
from an extensive background in scuba diving as an advanced open water
diver. His specialty is general surgery and received his Board Certification
in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine along with Drs. Salzer and Ramsey, an
honor received by less than 200 other physicians in the United States. Dr.
Ross received a special certificate as a Safety Director of Hyperbaric
Medicine that he received in San Antonio, Texas. He has been instrumental in
helping to build the Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Department
at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and has also performed consulting work in
the area of wound care.
Dr. Ross attended the The University at Stony Brook
where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He received his
M.D. degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he
graduated in the top third of his class. His internship and residency in
General Surgery were served at University Hospital at Stony Brook. He became
Board Certified in General Surgery and was inducted as a Fellow in the
American College of Surgeons. Since 1990 he has been in private
practice in General Surgery and Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care. He has
received the Lifesaver Award from the American Cancer Society and an
honorary membership in Alpha Epsilon Delta from The University at Stony
Brook. He serves on several hospital committees and is a member of the
Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society and Nassau Surgical Society to name a few. |
