  John S. Hoina, D.P.M.

Dr. Hoina is one of the physicians on our staff that truly embodies the philosophy of our mission statement.  He is a podiatrist with extensive training and his services are invaluable to LIHBO. He received his hyperbaric and wound care training in San Antonio, Texas in 1998. However, his experience in treating patients with chronic wounds and diseases of the foot and lower extremity is far more extensive.

Dr. Hoina received his undergraduate training at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and went on to receive his Masters at Michigan State University in East Lansing. He graduated as a DPM from New York College of Podiatric Medicine. After completing his post-graduate training, he received two board certifications, thus becoming a diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgeons and the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine. Soon to follow, he was inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Dr. Hoina has served as Chief of Podiatric Surgery at New Island Hospital in Bethpage where he was also the on-site residency director for the Podiatric Medicine residency program for Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn. He holds numerous committee appointments in addition to also having been on the Medical Board Member for New Island Hospital. He is affiliated with University Staff Podiatrists, SUNY Farmingdale and is Chief Consultant for Metro Lithotripter Associates for osteotripsy procedures.
